Early Years Foundation Stage

As an advocate of early childhood education in Nigeria, The Early Years Foundation Stage at Starling School focuses on the learning and development stages of the total child as they grow from birth to five years old.

These years see the greatest growth and learning for all children. It is called Foundation Stage because it gives a secure foundation for future learning.

We are committed to make every child at Starling School have enjoyable and satisfying early childhood learning experience. We aim to develop positive attitudes to learning in every child, we nurture every child to;

⊗ be happy
⊗ feel safe and secure
⊗ enjoy good health
⊗ be excellent

Our curriculum is developed to explore the uniqueness of the total child physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. We believe that a child, building on healthy relationships when placed in an enabling environment, would thrive.

Our broad range of subjects is geared towards developing the prime and specific areas of the total child, thus achieving the early learning goals. Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Our children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents, Early Years staff at school and their peers.

Our safe and happy environment plays a key role supporting and extending early childhood development and learning. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning are equally important and interconnected.

Our Stars

All children learn best from experiences that are suitable for their stage of development. It is essential for all children to participate in free play because it plays a crucial role in their development. Play is the key to the way young children learn. Most aspects of physical and cognitive development come through play thereby making the children's brain thrive.

While play sharpens children's fine and gross motor skills needed for writing, counting and exploring their environment, it also has an integral role in early childhood education, as it develops children's confidence and social skills. By creating a safe environment for play, our children become more capable and intelligent.

Starling School is managed by a group of competent and experienced professionals with diverse skills and qualifications. All members of staff are passionate about teaching and grooming young children.

Our team is made up of graduate and masters degree holders in various fields which include – English Language, English literature, Creative Arts, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, French, Social Studies, Accounting, Human Anatomy, Guidance and counseling to mention but a few.
