Introduction:

Starling school is committed to empowering children with 21st century skills. Every child is a star and as such we admit children from all race, creed, social and economic strata.

Our admission requirements are as follows:

Submission of reports of the pupil from previous schools.
Sitting for placement test in Numeracy and Literacy for the children seeking admission into years 1-6 (Key stages 1 & 2).
An interview with both parents by management.
*Children between ages 3-5years seeking admission in Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery 1 and Reception Class) will be required to undertake a range of age appropriate activities – sorting, drawing, colouring, identification games, puzzles and answering questions orally.
A child must be 2years old to be placed in our playgroup, 3years to be placed in our Nursery 1 and 4years to be placed in our reception class on or before September of the new academic year.
Placement tests are done over the course of a school day.
The school reserves the right to place a child in the class of his/her ability and or appropriate age.
All information obtained by the school about the child and his/her family during the admission process will be handled with a high degree of confidentiality.

Purchase the application form from the school.
The application form must be completed and returned to the school office with the following:
a. Two recent passport photographs of the child.
b. Copies of the child’s birth certificate/registration of birth from the hospital and proof of immunization.
c. Copy of the last school report for admission into key stages 1 and 2
Once the application is submitted, a date and time for the oral or written placement test will be scheduled. The prospective pupil will be interviewed either by the head teacher or assistant head teacher, appropriate key stage head or admission officer.
The child will be expected to undertake these oral activities and or written tests during the course of a school day and the child will be observed to determine several social and personal character traits such as ability to settle, disposition or temperament of the child.
At the end of the placement test, parents will be given an oral feedback on the performance of the child.
The selection process is confidential, and parents undertake to accept the decision reached by Starling School.
Where an applicant is successful, he/she will be given an offer for admission.
With the letter of offer of admission, the parents also have the school bill for payment of fees.
Parents are expected to pay the child’s fees on or before the date stipulated on the admission letter. Starling School reserves the right to cancel reservation of space if parents do not make payment on or before the date stipulated.
Where there are waiting lists in various classes, admission is offered on a first come first served basis. Priority is given to pupils who have siblings in the school.
